Hazardous Materials Technician (80hr)
NIPSTA’s Hazardous Materials Technician program is designed to exceed the requirements outlined by the Illinois Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM) This Hazmat Technician program provides students with the advanced knowledge and skills needed to respond to hazardous materials, chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear (CBRN) and weapons of mass destruction “WMD” incidents for the purpose of analyzing or planning actions to protect nearby persons, the environment, or property from the effects of a hazardous material release. The curriculum is designed to fulfill the standards as set forth by NFPA 472, Standard for Professional Competence of Responders to Hazardous Materials Incidents, current edition.

OAI Scholarship Opportunity
Through a partnership with OAI, Inc., all participants are eligible for a $200 scholarship towards the registration cost of this program for each week of the Technician Course ($400 Total, as Grant funds are available). The scholarship will be awarded to all students who complete the appropriate paperwork, distributed on the first day of the course. The $200 will be reimbursed to the paying party (student or department) after all paperwork is processed by OAI, Inc.
Notice of cancellation must be received in writing by email to NIPSTA at least two (2) weeks prior to the first day of the scheduled training program. Email Patrick Jessee (email@example.com) to cancel.
If notice of cancellation is not received by NIPSTA within two weeks of the scheduled training program, then 100% of the tuition fee shall be due and payable to NIPSTA
NIPSTA reserves the right to cancel a course. Notice of cancellation will be provided to students at least seven (7) days prior to the first day of the program. Cancellations with less than seven (7) days' notice will only be in the event of an emergency.
