Rail Safety for All Emergency Responders

Railroad emergency incidents present unique and dangerous circumstances to first responders.  This one-day program has been developed by Operation Lifesaver to provide essential information that will help to control and mitigate these situations.  Case studies of past emergencies will improve the safety and efficiency of future response.

Importance of Preparing for Railroad Incidents

Railroad-Related Factors that Affect a Safe Response

Response Agency-Related Communications and Terminology

On-Scene Dangers and Safety Procedures

How to Stop a Train

Understanding Wheel Reports, Train Lists, and Lading Papers

 

The instruction combines classroom presentations and hands-on access to the one-of-a-kind Railroad Training Prop, featuring actual passenger and tanker rail cars, located on the NIPSTA Campus in Glenview, Illinois.
