This program replaces the Roadway Extrication certification issued by the Illinois Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM). Vehicle/Machinery - Operations Level training is designed to acquaint the firefighter with techniques used in auto extrication. This 40-hour course includes 32 hours of hands-on exercises with various extrication equipment and tools. Emphasis will be on safety, tool functions, and methods of victim removal from vehicles. This program meets NFPA 1670 requirements.
Students are required to wear appropriate casual clothing and full turnout gear, including hand and eye protection.
Twelve hours of continuing education credits are provided by the Illinois Department of Public Health.
Prerequisite:
The Illinois OSFM only certifies students at the Vehicle/Machinery - Operations Level if they are also certified in Technical Rescue - Awareness Level.
Program includes continental breakfast, lunch, and course materials.
