Five-days of intense, hands-on instruction to enhance the knowledge gained at the Firefighter II level. Compliance with all State objectives is provided in the classroom and in practical evolutions.
Specialized indoor and outdoor training props located throughout the NIPSTA Campus enable participants to accomplish OSFM-approved skills:
Ladder training
Hose cleaning, inspection, and testing
Service and maintenance of generators and lighting equipment
Power tool use in forcible entry
Reading and recording flow pressures
MABAS requests and box alarms
Sprinkler systems and standpipes
Fire safety surveys and pre-plans
Auto extrication
Roping and rappelling
Live fire attacks
Student Requirements
Students are required to provide turnout gear that is NFPA-compliant and not more than 10 years old. The required equipment includes coat, pants, hood, boots, gloves, helmet with chinstrap, ear flaps, and face shield or goggles. Students must also provide SCBA harness, a fit-tested face piece, two (2) SCBA cylinders with hydrostatic test dates that do not expire prior to March 5, 2010, a flashlight, work gloves or extrication gloves, work safety glasses, passport name tags, and one 25’ section of 1” webbing with carabiner.
