This 40-hour State-certified program is designed to prepare local responders to operate as a local member of a regional team. The course has been designed in accordance with NFPA standards; covering the federal and state regulations, use of specialized equipment for atmospheric monitoring, commercial entry and retrieval systems and employment of rescuer constructed retrieval systems.
Special emphasis will be given to rescuer safety, scene management, patient care and movement, and the construction and operation of retrieval systems. Simulated rescue evolutions involving various rescue problems will be conducted.
Students are required to provide their own equipment:
Helmet, class 3 harness, coveralls, eye protection, work boots & dedicated gloves for rope work, and SCBA with a face piece and spare cylinder.
Rope Rescue-Operations Level is highly recommended for this program.
REQUEST FOR REGISTRATION APPLICATION PROCESS
Priority is provided to Requests for Registration received from those who are included on a training roster of an Illinois MABAS Special Operations Team that is located within Cook County. These students will receive a tuition fee waiver and may be eligible for reimbursement from Illinois MABAS of approved overtime and backfill expenses
All other Requests for Registration will be considered for acceptance on a space-available basis, depending upon the maximum capacity (25) of the training program.
Notice of acceptance (or denial/being wait listed) of a Request for Registration will be provided by NIPSTA approximately thirty (30) days in advance of the scheduled training program.
Registration Deadline: All Requests for Registration must be received by NIPSTA at least six (6) weeks prior to the first day of the training program. Requests received after the deadline will not receive consideration for acceptance, except on a space-available basis.
Cancellation Policy: Notice of cancellation of an accepted Request for Registration must be received by NIPSTA at least two (2) weeks prior to the first day of the scheduled training program. Substitute requests will not be accepted.
If notice of cancellation is received by NIPSTA less than two (2) weeks prior to the first day of the scheduled training program, then 50% of the tuition fee ($775) shall be due and payable to NIPSTA. Substitute requests will not be accepted. Please email cancellations to email@example.com
If notice of cancellation is not received by NIPSTA before the first day of the scheduled training program, then 100% of the tuition fee ($775) shall be due and payable to NIPSTA regardless of the fee being waived or not.
NIPSTA reserves the right to cancel a course. Notice of cancellation will be provided to students at least seven (7) days prior to the first day of the program. Cancellations with less than seven (7) days" notice will only be in the event of an emergency.
