A Day of Fun for All Ages

The NIPSTA Foundation hosts the 3rd Annual Public Safety Awareness Day on Sunday, September 12th as a showcase of the specialized programs and facilities available in Glenview.  The NIPSTA Campus will be open to the public for live demonstrations and hands-on activities.  Scenarios will be staged and combined with interactive displays of public safety equipment and vehicles.

This event provides a unique opportunity to not only meet and greet fire, police and public works professionals, but also get an up-close look at the tools of their trades.   Admission is free.  Food and beverage service will also be available on-site.

Public Safety Awareness Day is made possible thanks to extraordinary support from corporate sponsors and Member departments that donate their time and talent to this annual activity.  This year, raffles will include the chance to win a ride to school on a fire engine, Chicago Blackhawks tickets, Harley Davidson gift certificates, plus much more!

Fire Officer Training Resumes

The Fire Officer Training Program will resume at NIPSTA when both the Officer I and Officer II series launch next month.  This is one of the most successful programs delivered on Campus, with more than 400 participants receiving year-round instruction that satisfies the learning objectives of the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal.  Students return to their departments with an enhanced sense of leadership and professionalism that improves their on-the-job performance.

Advantages of the NIPSTA program include: a convenient one-week format; a variety of classroom instructors; daily breakfast and lunch menus; and an opportunity to share experiences with fire department personnel from throughout Illinois.  Students also receive college credit from Oakton Community College - a NIPSTA Affiliate Member.  For a complete calendar of Fire Officer I and Officer II sessions, click here.
