Its Almost

Driver Training Season

NIPSTA offers a three-day tactical driver training curriculum and a one-day re-certification program that provide for the safety of department personnel, and the residents they serve.  This instruction is intended to enhance driving skills by combining classroom education with practical exercises.  Program success is measured on a pass/fail basis and requires student proficiency on a written exam and in simulations on the NIPSTA Driver Training Pad.

Numerous training dates are scheduled throughout the year in order to provide as many opportunities as possible for improvement of on-the-job performance.  Driving activities are intense, but performed in a safe environment at controlled speeds.  Departments that participate in this comprehensive, proactive program will reduce their accident rates and liabilities.

NIPSTA NOTES

Driver Simulation Training for Law Enforcement

NIPSTA presents this interactive training program to help ensure that law enforcement vehicle operators use proper driving skills, which, in turn, reduce the frequency and severity of vehicle-related accidents.  Real-life experiences are available on state-of-the-art driving simulators, providing participants with training that cannot be replicated on the road.

This one-day program is complemented by classroom presentations that enable drivers to practice high-risk tasks, such as driving in severe weather, maneuvering through traffic, and managing dangerous intersections in response to emergency situations.  For the entire 2012 training schedule and registration information, click here.
