A collaborative partnership between the Cook County Department of Homeland Security & Emergency Management and NIPSTA results in this two-day program intended for individuals who may assume a supervisory role in expanding or Type 3 incidents. Such events may involve activation of some or all of the Command and General Staff positions, as well as Division/Group Supervisor and/or Unit Leader level positions. The audience for this training includes representatives of Law Enforcement, Emergency Medical Services, Emergency Management Agency, Fire Service, Hazardous Material, Public Works, Government Administration, Public Safety Communications, Health Care, Public Health, Private Sector, and Volunteer Organizations.

The tuition for this course is generally
supported through a grant. However, grant funding may be withdrawn at any time.
Students will be notified immediately if grant funding is eliminated.
This program is generously supported through a federal grant administered by the Cook County Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management. Tuition support is available for representatives of local and county level public safety agency jurisdictional personnel, including hospital and healthcare representatives, for organizations located in Cook, DuPage, Lake, Will, McHenry and Kane Counties. Also included are personnel of Non-Governmental Organizations and National Volunteer Organizations Active in Disasters, as defined by the National Response Framework. NIPSTA and CCDSHEM have further agreed to provide tuition support for Incident Command System 300 and 400 level training for Private Sector stakeholders within the Critical Infrastructure Sectors identified within Presidential Policy Directive/PPD-21.

Cancellation Policy: Notice of cancellation must be received in writing by NIPSTA at least two (2) weeks prior to the first day of the scheduled training program. Substitute requests will not be accepted. Submit cancellations to Kathleen Sullivan at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If notice of cancellation is not received by NIPSTA within two (2) weeks of the scheduled training program, then 100% of the tuition fee shall be due and payable to NIPSTA
NIPSTA reserves the right to cancel a course. Notice of cancellation will be provided to students at least seven (7) days prior to the first day of the program. Cancellations with less than seven (7) days" notice will only be in the event of an emergency.
