Public Safety Awareness Day

A Success!

The NIPSTA Foundation hosted its first-ever public awareness event on June 8, 2008.  NIPSTA opened its doors to the public for this one day of live demonstrations and hands-on activities to showcase its specialized programs and facilities.  This provided attendees with a unique opportunity to meet and greet fire, police, and public works professionals, and experience the tools of their trade.

Over 500 participants were in attendance despite the wet weather for this first-time event.  Activities included squad car rides, search dog demonstrations, horse-mounted police, backhoe equipment operations, high-rise fire rescues, driver training simulators, crime scene evidence collection, touch-a-truck displays, and much more.

The NIPSTA Foundation is an Illinois not-for-profit corporation that is organized and operated exclusively for charitable and educational purposes.  The Foundation is a tax-exempt entity pursuant to Section 501(c)(3) of the federal Internal Revenue Code.

NIPSTA NOTES

NIPSTA Foundation

Chicago area businesses and individuals have a unique opportunity to support emergency first responders who live and work in their own communities.  Financial contributions to the Northeastern Illinois Public Safety Training Academy (NIPSTA) Foundation will provide fire, police, and public works personnel with much-needed training assets and resources.

The NIPSTA Foundation was established in 2006 as an Illinois not-for-profit corporation organized and operated exclusively for charitable and educational purposes.  The Foundation solicits and receives public and private donations, gifts, grants, memorials, and bequests of money, property, and services.  Cash donations and in-kind support are tax-exempt to the extent permitted by law.

Funding from local sources supports the development of the 20-acre NIPSTA Campus, which is recognized as the premier facility of its kind.  As the curriculum expands and new training props are added, public safety professionals at the local, state, and national levels will continue to receive high-quality, hands-on instruction that is not available elsewhere in Illinois.
