Public Utilities Safety Training
at NIPSTA
In cooperation with Commonwealth Edison, JULIE, Inc. and Nicor Gas, NIPSTA presents a one-day program for public works personnel. This collaborative effort among public utility companies provides instruction about the hazards, procedures, and protocols involved in operating near above-ground and underground public utilities.

The June 8th agenda includes presentations by representatives of each utility, as well as extensive opportunities for Q&A. The tuition fee is only $25 per NIPSTA Member and includes course materials and lunch. Click here to register for this program.
Public Works Supervisors Academy
The 2012 Public Works Supervisors Academy began in April with a program entitled "Maximizing Computer Skills." Other upcoming topics include: "Leading Successful Meetings & Briefings” and “Managing Up: Building a Stronger Relationship with Your Supervisor.”
Each of these programs follows on the success of previous Academy offerings over the past five years. The half-day sessions are priced affordably for current public works supervisors, and for those who aspire to be department leaders in the future. Class sizes are limited for this training, which is not available elsewhere in Illinois. Register today!
Confined Space & Trench Safety Training
Training in “Confined Space Entry & Non-Entry” and “Trenching & Competent Person” remains popular on the NIPSTA Campus. Last year, more than 140 professionals received valuable education that included classroom instruction, hands-on exercises, and equipment demonstrations. These one-day programs are affordable and accessible to all public works employees. As an added bonus, NIPSTA Members receive a tuition discount of 40%.
Register soon, as these classes are sure to fill to capacity.
