NEW: Fall Protection Training
NIPSTA presents a half-day training program in order to educate and inform public works employees about safety features and the application of new standards of fall protection.
Accidents are often attributable to one of several factors: unstable working surfaces, misuse of protection equipment, and human error. Studies have shown that the use of guardrails, fall arrest systems, safety nets, and travel restriction systems can prevent many injuries and deaths from falls.

It's Driver Training Season
NIPSTA offers a two-day driver training curriculum and a one-day recertification program that provide for the safety of department personnel, and the residents they serve. This instruction is intended to enhance driving skills by combining classroom education with practical exercises. Program success is measured on a pass/fail basis and requires student proficiency on a written exam and in simulations on the NIPSTA Driver Training Pad.
Numerous training dates are scheduled throughout the year in order to provide as many opportunities as possible for improvement of on-the-job performance. Driving activities are performed in a safe environment and at controlled speeds. Departments that participate in this comprehensive, proactive program will reduce their accident rates and liabilities.
