Hazardous Materials Awareness for Public Works
This 8 hour awareness level course provides Public Works personnel with the basic information regarding hazardous materials/chemicals. Topics include:
- Introduction to hazardous chemicals
- Emergency Response Guidebook
- Osha “Right to Know” for hazardous chemicals
- Global Harmonization System 9GHS) for hazardous chemicals in the workplace
- Safety Data Sheets
- Basic First Aid for hazardous chemicals
- At the conclusion of the course, the Public Works personnel shall be able to perform the following tasks:
- Identify hazardous chemicals in the workplace
- Identify roadway containers of hazardous chemicals
- Identify “Right to Know” and GHS images to determine hazardous chemicals
- Review Safety Date Sheets for information
- Perform emergency decontamination after hazardous chemical exposure
- Conduct a notification to emergency responders following a hazardous chemical exposure
