Welcome to the NIPSTA Pubic Works home page. There are multiple training opportunities available for participants looking to start their careers or current public worker employees to hone their skills.
In recognition of the Public Works professionals' federally mandated role as first responders, NIPSTA is proud to announce:
Public Works First Responder Training Program
Level One courses are intended for Public Works professionals who serve in an essential, field-based capacity or are new to the profession. Successful completion of the level one session results in a NIPSTA Certificate of Completion. Learn more now
Additional Public Works Training
NIPSTA is excited to bring to the Public Works Sector a 40-hour Public Works Academy that will provide new Public Works employees with a solid foundation to begin their career. This Academy would also be appropriate for employees up to five years on the job.

This American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA) approved half-day flagger training program is for public safety, highway department and other representatives with flagger responsibilities in both emergency and non-emergency situations.

This program has been special developed by NIPSTA in order to introduce snowplow operators to basic snow plowing principles and techniques.
NIPSTA presents this one-day interactive program to enhance snowplow driver’s performance by training safely and effectively while operating a vehicle in the most extreme simulated conditions.
Staking University NIPSTA welcomes back Staking University utility locating training for 2025! The classes are designed to aid locators in developing the skills needed for utility locating and mastery of their equipment. The course includes classroom and field work.
